About Mrs. Fjerstad

Mrs. Fjerstad graduated from Fillmore Central High School in Harmony, MN in 1995. From there she attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for a year and a half and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to finish her education. During college she participated in the UW-LaCrosse Jazz Choir, UW-LaCrosse Concert Choir, UWRF Concert Choir, UWRF Chamber Singers, and the National Lutheran Choir. She graduated from UW-River Falls in the spring of 2000 with a degree in K-12 General and Choral Music Education and moved to Hayfield, MN to begin her teaching career. In the spring of 2007, she graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning. During her Master's program, she recieved her training in Kodaly Level I and The VoiceCare Network. For the past 26 years, Mrs. Fjerstad has taught classroom music in Hayfield for grades PK-5, was the 7/8 Girls' Choral Director for one year, coached middle school basketball for 2 years, was the director of Hayfield Elementary's "Voices of Vikings" choir, and is the director of the Hayfield Viking Players' Spring Musical. In her spare time, Mrs. Fjerstad enjoys sewing, gardening, leading worship music at her church, reading, crocheting, crafts of all kinds, going to musicals, and spending time with family and friends.
